1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500
1976 Triumph Spitfire 1500
Lot Number:
Estimate: No Reserve
- V5 Present
- MoT Exempt
- Chassis number: FH857510
Owned by our vendor since 1986, this very bright and cheerful‑looking Triumph Spitfire 1500 (believed to be Mimosa Yellow) was registered in August 1976 and now shows 68,706 miles on its odometer, although this can't be warranted by the available paperwork. The vendor tells us that it has had a reconditioned engine and gearbox (although the overdrive is currently not working), along with recent tyres. The car was driven 20 miles to the auction. As an historic vehicle, the car doesn't need an MoT.
The history folder includes the current and a past V5C plus some recent invoices. These include a Lumenition coil (May 2022), and new ignition switch (June 2022). There are also bills for a cylinder head (March 2019, at a cost of £331.50), new short block, set of pistons and head gasket (August 2020, combined cost £633).
While in sound order, the car would benefit from cosmetic improvement. It exhibits some areas of cracked paint as well as spots where the finish has been touched up in a slightly different shade.
