The GT Beetle was a limited edition Volkswagen running to 2500 examples, to mark a total of 300,000 Beetles sold in the UK. The model came in three colours; Lemon Yellow (as here), Apple Green and Tomato Red. It was based on the 1300S with cloth‑trimmed interior, Sports gearshift, padded metal dashboard, and 4.5J GT steel wheels. Reputedly the gearbox of the 1584cc car was upgraded to allow it to cruise more comfortably at higher speeds.
This example was registered in December 1972 and is now showing 68,803 miles on its odometer. It was last serviced at 68,220 miles while the MoT is valid until September 2023. While six previous registered keepers are shown on the V5C, there have been just two owners within the last 23 years.
The history folder includes the V5C plus invoices from 2021 back to 2001. They include ones for a new rear wing in July 2021, full service in November 2020 (at 68,220 miles). The are MoT certificates from 1995 to 1997, 1999 to 2002, 2006 to 2009, 2017 and 2022. There's also a spare set of keys with the vehicle.
